Open source and enterprise software executive brings 15 years' experience from IBM, MarkLogic, and Couchbase to Alluxio, expanding leadership team
SAN MATEO, Calif., Dec. 06, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Alluxio, developer of the world's first software system that unifies data at memory speed, today named Dipti Borkar as Vice President of Product and Marketing. Borkar brings more than 15 years of marketing, product, and engineering experience from successful global enterprises IBM, MarkLogic, and Couchbase to her new role at Alluxio. She reports to CEO and company co-founder Haoyuan Li and will be responsible for all marketing and product strategy for the company.
"Alluxio is disrupting a huge market with our pioneering data unification solution for large-scale analytic and machine learning workloads and intelligently tiering petabytes of data across hybrid and on-premise clouds," said Li. "Dipti brings deep technical expertise in data management, analytics, and machine learning and played a key role in the success of open source NoSQL company Couchbase. She understands the market and how to make customers successful with production enterprise deployments at scale."
Alluxio is pioneering a new era of real-time analytics at massive scale with its technology in production at some of the world's largest financial services companies, e-commerce destinations, and more, including Alibaba, Baidu, Barclays, ESRI, Huawei, JD.com, and Lenovo. In 2018, the company was named a Top 10 Storage Startup by CRN, released the most advanced version of Alluxio that simplifies workload migration in hybrid and on-premises clouds, and in May appointed former Couchbase CEO Bob Wiederhold as Executive Chairman.
"Dipti brings a proven track record of success with Global 2000 customers in deploying solutions built on cutting-edge open source software," Wiederhold said. "She was a major contributor to our success at Couchbase. I'm delighted to add her experience to the senior management team at Alluxio."
"Most enterprises run their business on IT designed and built for an earlier era," Borkar said. "Alluxio has built a data unification solution to power modern analytical and machine learning workloads. In addition, it dramatically simplifies data access and movement across multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments that will increasingly have compute separated from storage. It's such an exciting time to join the team at Alluxio."
Borkar joins Alluxio from Kinetica, makers of a GPU AI and analytics platform, where she was Vice President of Product Marketing. Previously, she was Vice President of Product Marketing at Couchbase and held several leadership positions there, including Head of Global Technical Sales and Head of Product Management. Earlier in her career, Dipti was a part of the product team at MarkLogic and IBM DB2, where she started her career as a database kernel engineer.
Alluxio helps customers in a wide range of use cases to maximize the value of their data. Alluxio enables a flexible data infrastructure that meets the volume, variety, and velocity challenges of data-driven enterprises with a scalable virtual data layer in the cloud, on-premises, or hybrid. Alluxio provides unified access to multiple object or file data sources concurrently to deliver data at memory speed regardless of physical location.
